Where is papua new guinea?
Papua New Guinea is in the South Pacific just above Australia. It is the eastern half of the island of New Guinea-the western half belongs to Indonesia.
what language do they speak there?
The trade language of Papua New Guinea is Pidgin. This is also referred to as Tok Pisin or Melanesian Pidgin. This is what is most widely spoken in the larger towns and across tribes. However, each tribe also has their own more specific language that only that region speaks which we will learn in addition to Pidgin (called the Tok Place).
When are you going?
In order to be best prepared for what lies ahead, we are making sure we have as much training and experience as possible before we go. While waiting with such a strong desire in our hearts to go is hard, we know and trust that God continues to use this time to adequately prepare us and everyone involved for this mission. Basically, as soon as we can be ready!
What are you doing there?
We will be learning a tribal language, developing a written alphabet for it, teaching the people to be literate in their own language, translating the Bible, and teaching the tribe the good news of the Gospel!
Why did you decide to do this?
Both of us have felt a calling to ministry in our lives, but it wasn't until Spring 2017 that we discovered how this would play out. God slowly placed the desire in our hearts to go to Papua New Guinea. Each time we heard more about it, the more we were intrigued! We also know that both of our talents will be best put to use in this area of ministry.
We solely aim to live a life that fulfills the great commission of Matthew 28:19-20, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
We know that not many people feel this call in their lives and are so thankful that God has put this on our hearts.

Are you going alone?
Nope! We will go with another couple/family or single individuals who will be our co-workers overseas. Since we are not leaving quite yet, we do not know who this will end up being, but we trust and know that God will place the desire in others' hearts at the right time. Our sending organization will be Finisterre Vision.
How can i help?
Come with us!! That’s only half joking, but as of now, prayer is the best way to partner with us along this journey. Eventually, it will be time for us to raise financial support, but we are not quite there yet. Prayer can help prepare both our hearts and the tribal peoples' hearts for this long process ahead. Please follow along with us by staying updated on our progress and visit our blog!
We also ask that you would pray that God would lead more people to desire to reach the unreached people groups in Papua New Guinea. In Matthew 9:37-38 Jesus reminds us that “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
