Where are we going?

Our future home

God has placed the desire in our hearts to go to Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea is extremely diverse in terms of its languages and people. It is home to 860 people groups who are all completely distinct.

The Finisterre Mountains are home to 70 people groups, over 40 of which are still considered unreached. This means that they live without knowledge of the truth that Jesus Christ is their Savior and they do not have the Scriptures available in their language to learn of this truth. These unreached people live in remote tribes nestled in hard to reach mountains and all speak different languages. (Brandon's favorite analogy for this is to imagine driving along a highway where every exit is a completely different language. That's how the tribes are in Papua New Guinea, but instead of a flat highway, there are tall mountains separating the tribes.)

In the Finisterre Mountains, there are language families that are made up of related languages. The map below color-codes these families and outlines each separate language. Within each of those languages, there are also separate tribes of people. That amounts to a lot of people living without the truth of Christ.

While we do not know specifically which tribe we will end up in yet, we are keeping our minds open and placing our trust in God and his plan for us to reach a people group in PNG.
